Spring is always a busy time at our house. Lots of travel and several birthdays.
And Easter. Which was quite a whirlwind this year, but a lovely time with family.
My in-laws came to visit for the week. They arrived on the Wednesday night before Easter and will leave on the Tuesday morning after. And in between, we had all kinds of fun planned for them!
On Thursday, I took them to see my youngest son’s office. They enjoyed a tour of the business that my son and his cousin now own. Then we went to eat Mexican food for lunch!
On Friday, we had a nice, long visit with the same son, but this time with his family, too! Which means our darling granddaughters! We played and talked, and ate lunch. But my favorite (of course!) was reading to them!
That evening, our older son arrived. He went to our Tenebrae service with us and spent the night. The next day, we hosted both sons, their wives, our granddaughters, my in-laws, and my parents for lunch! Of course, we had Easter baskets for the girls and an Easter egg hunt in the house. (More places to hide, and the grass was wet from overnight rain!)
Sunday, after a lovely Lumen Christi service at church, we took off for the ballgame! We hadn’t yet had a chance to take my in-laws to the new Globe Life field where the Rangers play. After so many years of sweating at Rangers games with us, they appreciated watching the game in the air-conditioning! It wasn’t fun that they lost. Or that the crowd sounded like there were more Dodgers fans than Rangers fans. But we had a lovely afternoon of baseball with them as well as with our older son and his wife.
But we were done on Easter Sunday?
We were not!
Monday morning was absolutely glorious! I drove my in-laws and my parents to the Arboretum in Dallas, where we enjoyed strolling through the colorful grounds before having brunch. By Monday night, we were all exhausted, but it was the good kind of tired.
Tuesday morning, my in-laws head home—and I get back to work!
What brought you joy over the Easter weekend (besides celebrating the resurrection of Jesus, which is always the best part)?
